Snuggle-Pedic Mattress Topper Review - Double Layers Of Comfort & Support
Want to try a memory foam topper to relieve back pain during the night but not sure how soft or firm to go? The Snuggle-Pedic Double Layer Memory Foam Mattress Topper may be the answer as you get two levels of support and comfort for the price of one.
Memory foam mattress toppers can be great for relieving aches and pains in your body as you sleep.
So much so that they can be enough to give your old mattress a new lease of life without needing to replace it.
Which not only saves you money but also saves you from a lot of pain and sleepless nights as well.
But to be effective you need to make sure you choose the right one.
Because if you get a topper that is too soft you might sink in too far.
Which can throw your spine out of alignment and increase the stress and strain on your lower back, neck and shoulders.
And if you get one that is too firm it can be uncomfortable to sleep on.
Which puts extra pressure on your pressure points.
Leaving you in just as much pain as when you started!
So finding the right memory foam mattress topper can be a difficult conundrum to solve.
However Snuggle-Pedic have come up with what could be a good solution.
As their mattress topper contains two different layers of memory foam with different levels of density.
So you can sleep on one side if you want a softer and more comfortable feel.
But flip it over and you get a firmer and more supportive feel.
So theoretically it should give you the best of both worlds and that makes it a great topper for people with back pain to try.

How Is It Made Up?
The Snuggle-Pedic Double Layer Mattress Topper is a 2" thick topper made from two 1" layers of high quality viscoelastic memory foam.
One layer has a density of 4lbs/cubic ft which gives it a plush feel making it comfortable but not too soft.
While the other layer has a density of 5lbs/cubic ft which gives it a soft/medium feel making it firmer and more supportive.
So the good thing with this topper is you can choose which side suits you best and change the feel of this topper simply by flipping it over.
And the memory foam used in the Snuggle-Pedic topper is CertiPUR-US certified.
Meaning it's made without using harmful chemicals and is low in VOCs (volatile organic compounds).
Which is great for your health, the environment, and the indoor air quality of your bedroom.
Why It's Good For Your Back
Memory foam is known more for it's comfort providing qualities than for the level of support it offers.
And it can never match the support you get from latex or innerspring mattresses and mattress toppers.
However this topper from Snuggle-Pedic is a pretty good choice for your back.
As the density of both sides falls within a good range for people with back pain.
Ideally you need to get a topper with a medium density (between 3-5lb/cubic ft) to give your back the best chance of staying supported and pain-free.
As this is the sweet spot for sleeping on a foam that can support the natural curve of your spine.
So the 4lbs and 5lbs density of the foams in this topper mean you can't lose whichever side you decide to sleep on.
But they will both help in different ways.
The softer memory foam side will be more cushioning and forgiving on your back.
And by contouring to your body it will help to relieve the pressure and strain in your aching muscles and joints.
Which makes this side especially good for side sleepers as it doesn't put pressure on your hips and shoulders as you sleep.
While if you need firmer support the higher density side will be perfect for you.
As it gives twice the level of support as the softer side and more of a medium feel.
Making it a great choice for stomach and back sleepers.
But whichever side you choose to sleep on your spine should be able to comfortably stay in the correct alignment.
As the combined support of the topper and the fact it is only 2" thick means you won't sink too far into it.
So this topper gets the thumbs up from me.
As it gives much better support and assistance for your back than many other memory foam mattress toppers.
Is It Comfortable Too?
While getting a decent level of support is very important, so is being able to sleep comfortably.
And being in the medium-density range means the memory foam in this topper is not as soft as what you may be used to with regular memory foam.
So if you're looking for the squishy, sinking feel of lower density memory foam then this might not be the one for you.
But having said all that it's still extremely comfortable to sleep on.
And the fact that it isn't too soft means your spine remains in alignment meaning there is less pressure put on your body during the night.
Which can't be a bad thing.
The most comfortable side to sleep on is obviously the softer side.
As the memory foam will mould to your body and give you a relaxed and weightless feeling as you lie on it.
This will give you great pressure relief and help you to relax and drift off into a deeper and more restorative sleep.
And having the firmer layer of memory foam as a base means you won't sink in too far.
So there is less chance of feeling stuck with this topper.
And the firmer qualities and the 2" thickness means it's also easier to move around in during the night.
However the cushioning of the foam should mean you feel more comfortable in one position.
So hopefully you will experience less tossing and turning during the night anyway.
And while the Snuggle-Pedic topper doesn't have any specific design to make it more breathable such as ventilated holes or gel-infusion.
It is still reported by users as not being too hot to sleep on, which is a big concern with memory foam.
However I would recommend you buy a breathable cover to assist with keeping it cool to sleep on.
The Snuggle-Pedic Double Layer Mattress Topper comes in a full range of sizes.
So you can get one to fit on top of any mattress from a twin (38" x 75") right up to a California king (72" x 84").
However you can't choose the thickness as this topper only comes as a 2" version.
Which is a slight annoyance as most toppers range from 1" - 4" and each size has a slightly different feel and effect.
But for the Snuggle-Pedic topper I don't think it's such a problem.
As the two 1" layers of memory foam work really well together and cover most of the bases meaning this topper will suit most people fine.
Some Other Nice Features
90-day Sleep Trial
You get a 90-day sleep trial with the Snuggle-Pedic topper.
This means that if you don't like it within this period you can return it for a full refund.
Which is pretty cool.
However what makes it less cool is that you are responsible for the return shipping costs.
And this can come to around $65.
So while it's good to have this option to return it it's hardly a perfect offer.
10-year Limited Warranty
Higher density memory foam is more durable and long-lasting than most types of memory foam.
So you should get plenty of years service out of this one.
And the makers of the Snuggle-Pedic mattress topper are so confident in the quality and durability of their topper that they offer a 10-year limited warranty.
Which is great for a memory foam topper.
So if there is a sag of more than 1/2" in the memory foam during this time they will replace it for you.
However this warranty doesn't cover things like general wear and tear.
>> The Back On Site Verdict <<
For a memory foam mattress topper I think the design of the Snuggle-Pedic Double Layer Mattress Topper is really clever and unique.
And the double layers of different density memory foam make it a great choice for people with back pain.
As you can choose between one side that will offer you more comfort and pressure relief.
Or the other that will offer you firmer support.
And you can easily change this up over time depending on how your back is feeling at that precise moment.
So while it's not as supportive as a latex mattress topper, it's still much better than most other memory foam toppers in that respect.
And it's remains really comfortable to sleep on too despite not being as soft as other memory foams.
So if you want the best of both worlds and the chance to tailor your own sleeping experience I'd highly recommend giving the Snuggle-Pedic Double Layer Mattress Topper a try.

- Softer side is great for relieving pressure.
