The Nature's Sleep Mattress Topper Review - A Great Mix Of Comfort & Support
If you want a memory foam mattress topper for your back that is not too soft but also not too firm, this one from Nature's Sleep could be just what the doctor ordered.
Memory foam mattress toppers can make a huge difference to the quality of your sleep.
Especially if your mattress feels too firm.
Because they add a layer of comfort and cushioning that helps your body to relax and relieve the pressure being placed on it during the night.
Which can also help you to get into a deeper and more restorative night's sleep.
However, getting the right balance between comfort and adequate support can be a tricky one.
And if you get this wrong it can be just as bad for your back.
Because sleeping on a surface that is too soft and lacking in support can throw you out of alignment and cause the same aches and pains as sleeping on a surface that's too firm!
But this is what makes the Nature's Sleep Memory Foam Mattress Topper a great option for people with back pain.
As it contains a medium density memory foam that is soft enough to cushion you and relieve pressure.
But also dense enough to keep your spine aligned and supported.
So you get the best of both worlds with this one.
Which is exactly what you need to be aiming for when shopping around for a memory foam topper for your back.
The Nature's Sleep Mattress Topper At A Glance
How Is It Made Up?
The Nature's Sleep Mattress Topper is 3" thick and made from a high quality visco-elastic memory foam.
And it has a density of 4 lbs/cubic ft which means it provides a great mix of comfort and support.
The foam itself is made with an enlarged cell structure which makes it more breathable, resilient, and long-lasting.
Which means it cooler to sleep on as air can pass through the enlarged cells.
And the memory foam used in the Nature's Sleep topper is CertiPUR-US certified.
This means it doesn't contain any harmful chemicals and is low in VOCs (volatile organic compounds).
Which makes it healthier for both you and the environment as it won't give out harmful emissions.
And this is great news for the indoor air quality of your bedroom.
You also get a 300-thread count cotton cover with this topper which has an 18" skirt stretch that allows it to to go over your topper and your mattress.
Which makes it great for holding your topper in place as well as protecting it while you sleep.
Why It's Good For Your Back
Back pain at night can occur for many reasons but the two main culprits are sleeping on a mattress that is either too firm or too soft.
And these both cause you pain for different reasons.
As when you sleep on a firm mattress your main pressure points in your hips, shoulders, and lower back come under increasing pressure and strain.
While sleeping on a mattress that is too soft will result in your body sinking in too far and your spine being thrown out of alignment.
And both of these scenarios put your muscles and joints under all sorts of unwanted pressure.
So it's no wonder you wake up with a variety of aches and pains in the morning.
So you need to make sure you sleep on a surface that hits the sweet spot between softness and firmness.
As this will give you adequate spinal support yet still provide comfort and pressure relief as you lie on it.
And for people with back pain that sweet spot is a memory foam with a density that lies between 3-5 lbs/cubic ft.
As this is perfect for being able to support the natural curve of your spine.
So with a density of 4 lbs/cubic ft, the Nature's Sleep mattress topper is slap bang in the center of the ideal range.
Which is great news for the health of your back.
As the memory foam will be soft enough to mold to your body, cushioning you and relieving pressure and strain.
But it will also be dense enough to stop you from sinking in too far.
So your spine will remain in a good alignment whichever position you like to sleep in.
And while memory foam can never match up to the levels of support provided by latex mattress toppers.
It can still be a great option for relieving pressure and strain on your body.
Also the enlarged cell structure of the memory foam in the Nature's Sleep topper will spread your weight evenly across your mattress as you sleep.
Which will help to ease pressure, tension and stress in your body even further.
So all in all this topper from Nature's Sleep is a great one for your back compared to less dense memory foam toppers.
Is It Comfortable Too?
A supremely comfortable and luxurious night's sleep is one of the main advantages of sleeping on memory foam.
And the Nature's Sleep mattress topper is still able to deliver this comfort despite being a little firmer than the softest memory foams.
As it has a plush feel that molds to your body as you lie on it, relieving pressure and helping you to relax.
And being a bit denser than soft memory foam means it does a far better job of keeping your spine in alignment.
Which takes away the strain from your aching muscles and joints, allowing them to rest and heal.
This will make it much easier to get into a deep and uninterrupted sleep that will leave you feeling refreshed in the morning rather than sore and tired.
And the pressure relief from the memory foam makes it much more likely you'll feel comfortable in the same position for longer.
Meaning less tossing and turning during the night.
And in addition to these pressure relieving qualities, the Nature's Sleep memory foam also has an enlarged cell design.
This means air can pass through the cells more easily so your body heat doesn't get trapped as much as it can do on regular memory foam.
So you get a cooler night's sleep on the Nature's Sleep topper which only adds to your comfort.
And finally this topper comes with a soft cotton cover that is lovely to sleep on and also does a great job of holding your topper in place on the mattress.
So no sliding about on this one during the night, just a cool and comfortable night's sleep.
Different Sizes & Varieties
This Nature's Sleep Memory Foam Mattress Topper comes in a variety of sizes.
So you can get one to fit any bed from a twin (39" x 75") right up to a California king (72" x 84").
However, you can't choose the thickness of this topper as it only comes in the 3" thick variety.
Which isn't that big of a deal, but other thicknesses do give a slightly different feel and effect to your mattress and your sleep experience.
So it would've been nice to have the option.
However, Nature's Sleep also do some other memory foam toppers that range in thickness, material, and density levels.
So if the one I've featured here isn't to your liking there are other options which I'll take you through now.
The Nature's Sleep Cool IQ Mattress Topper
This mattress topper is the closest to the one I've reviewed in this article.
However, it's 2.5" thick rather than 3" which means you'll sink into it even less.
And this could make it a better option for lighter people.
It also has a slightly lower density at 3.5 lbs/cubic ft.
So it's a bit softer but still within the ideal range for keeping your spine supported and in alignment.
The Nature's Sleep Natural Elements Mattress Topper
This topper is also 2.5" thick and is the firmest in the Nature's Sleep range at 4.5 lbs/cubic ft, making it the most supportive one.
And it's also designed with materials that will improve your sleeping experience.
As the foam is infused with charcoal, which reduces the odour of the memory foam and also wicks away moisture as you sleep to help regulate your temperature.
And it also contains a negative ion charge which is said to improve your circulation and help to restore your energy balance during the night.
The Nature's Sleep Aircool IQ Gel Mattress Topper
The memory foam in these mattress toppers is infused with gel.
This means it has larger open cells which allows air to pass through it more easily, making it cooler to sleep on.
And the gel will also help to regulate your body temperature as you sleep.
So these toppers are the coolest ones to sleep on in the Nature's Sleep range.
In fact, gel-infused memory foam can sleep up to 25% cooler than regular memory foam.
So if overheating during the night is a big concern for you, then one of these will be a great choice.
And there are two different levels of thickness, a 2.5" topper which has a density of 3 lbs/cubic ft and a 3" topper that has a density of 3.25 lbs/cubic ft.
So both are within the ideal range but at the softer end of the scale.
Meaning they are more comfortable than they are supportive.
Returns & Warranty
Nature's Sleep offer a 3-year limited warranty on their mattress toppers which is pretty good.
As this covers you for any defects due to faulty workmanship, structural defects, splits, cracks, and the foam not returning to it's original shape.
However, this doesn't cover things like general wear and tear, an increase in the softness of the foam, or a decrease in the slow recovery of it.
But as this foam is so dense and high quality it should hopefully last you beyond this warranty without you needing to use it.
However, one really bad thing about Nature's Sleep is that they don't have a proper returns policy.
In as much as you can only return your topper for a replacement or refund if it's defective straight out of the box.
Which basically means as soon as you use it you forfeit your option to return it which sucks.
So unlike other toppers you can't really test this one out and this makes it a bit more of a risky purchase.
However, I'd still recommend it as it's a really good topper that will please far more people with back pain than it disappoints.
Just make sure you check it out thoroughly for any faults or problems before you sleep on it.
>> The Back On Site Verdict <<
Overall I think the Nature's Sleep Memory Foam Mattress Topper is a great choice for people with back pain.
Firstly it's made from really high quality memory foam and has an ideal density of 4 lbs/cubic ft.
Which means it's dense enough to keep your spine supported and in alignment, but still soft enough to relieve pressure on your body and main pressure points.
And both of these outcomes are what you need to be aiming for if you want to eliminate back pain while you sleep.
It's also really comfortable to sleep on too.
Which will help your body to relax and drift off into a deep, uninterrupted, and highly restorative sleep.
And while it's not as supportive as a latex topper, it can still bring great comfort and pressure relief to a firmer mattress.
So if you want to try out sleeping on memory foam for yourself you won't go far wrong by choosing this topper from Nature's Sleep.
